Walsall College

Eco2Solar secured the contract to install a large solar PV array to the new £11m business and sports hub at Walsall College.

Interserve were chosen as the main build contractor for the multi-million pound scheme, with Eco2Solar nominated as the specialist PV installers

The state-of-the-art three-storey new build sits adjacent to Walsall College’s main £64 million Wisemore Campus and opened in September 2015.It will form part of Walsall Council’s long-term £400 million Gigaport initiative, which will create business and office development along the ring road corridor.

The Solar PV system consists of over 250m2 of solar panels which are estimated to generate over 36,000kWh’s of electricity for the College per annum.

Faced with a limited roof area, Eco2Solar designed and engineered a mounting system that could be clamped to the standing seam roof, with the modules elevated in two rows to achieve maximum output.

The contract adds to Eco2Solar’s portfolio of high profile large commercial installations.
