{"id":16440,"date":"2021-04-30T11:18:57","date_gmt":"2021-04-30T10:18:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.eco2solar.co.uk\/?p=16440"},"modified":"2021-04-30T11:19:44","modified_gmt":"2021-04-30T10:19:44","slug":"what-will-part-l-of-the-new-building-regulations-mean-for-future-homes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.eco2solar.co.uk\/hq-eco2\/what-will-part-l-of-the-new-building-regulations-mean-for-future-homes\/","title":{"rendered":"WHAT WILL PART L OF THE NEW BUILDING REGULATIONS MEAN FOR FUTURE HOMES?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The forthcoming <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/consultations\/the-future-homes-standard-changes-to-part-l-and-part-f-of-the-building-regulations-for-new-dwellings\">Future Homes Standard<\/a>, set to be implemented in 2025, will see the housebuilding industry take a giant leap towards helping the UK government meet its 2050 net zero target.<\/p>\n<p>Through this initiative, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/organisations\/ministry-of-housing-communities-and-local-government\">Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government<\/a> (MHCLG) aims to shrink carbon dioxide emissions in new build homes by up to 80%, compared to properties constructed under current building standards.<\/p>\n<p>These future-proofed homes will be built to much higher standards of energy efficiency, with features like low carbon heating, improved insulation and ventilation and low energy lights as standard.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, in order to achieve Target\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.designingbuildings.co.uk\/wiki\/Co2\">CO2<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.designingbuildings.co.uk\/wiki\/Emission_rates\">Emission Rates<\/a>\u00a0(TER), new homes will also require a renewable energy source &#8211; widely expected to be cost-efficient solar PV.<\/p>\n<p>While 2025 still seems quite a way off, the government\u2019s recently published changes to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/conservation-of-fuel-and-power-approved-document-l\">Part L of the Building Regulations<\/a> (the conservation of fuel and power) will act as an interim measure to pave the way towards implementing the Future Homes Standard<em>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Read out next blog in the series to find out what it\u2019ll mean for housebuilders, and why they\u2019ll need to start preparing now.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p class=\"excerpt\">The forthcoming Future Homes Standard, set to be implemented in 2025, will see the housebuilding industry take a giant leap towards helping the UK government meet its 2050 net zero target.
