Sidlaw House, Sanctuary Sheltered Housing, Dundee

Eco2Solar installed a large solar thermal system to provide heat for this sheltered housing building in Dundee. The panels are linked to a 1,500 litre twin coil, solar rated hot water cylinder which distributes the hot water to the residents’ rooms. The high efficiency CPC6 solar hot water collectors are manufactured in Germany and are examples of the evacuated tube technology available. They are equipped with reflector fins beneath the tubes which rebound sunlight onto the tubes, thus maximising the heat generated. The symmetrical array of the collectors on the roof in two rows of eleven keeps the system looking as aesthetically pleasing as possible.
