“Brilliant! Our solar panel is doing everything we expected of it and more! We have used no gas for water heating in our house since May and have recently had, for the first time ever, a quarterly gas bill for £00.00. Only after a prolonged period of very dull weather have we used the immersion heater to ‘top up’ the hot water supply. Even in August, not the sunniest month of 2008, we found the solar panel performed well. I don’t think in terms of how long it will take to pay for itself. I prefer to look at the annual savings on water heating cost as a percentage of installation cost. So far, I’d be hard pressed to find a better tax free rate in a Bank or Building Society! ”
